As the only museum in the country devoted to historical and contemporary design, the collection of the Cooper Hewitt explores 240 years of design aesthetic and creativity. Our goal for the “by design” media campaign was to utilize specific objects from the Museum’s collection to deepen engagement with prior visitors to encourage repeat attendance, while also reaching new audiences across all five boroughs.
Our media strategy for the “By Design” campaign included a mix of unexpected placements on large canvases, allowing multiple objects from the within the Museum’s collection to tell a more holistic story about the breadth of objects at the Cooper Hewitt.
Our digital media strategy included targeted mobile phone advertising focusing on users engaging in content in the areas of design, art, and architecture.
The “By Design” campaign drove website visitation up 5% year-to-year. Two-thirds of all Museum visitors were under 40 years old, helping cement this age group as a core component of Cooper-Hewitt’s audience.
